Budget owner time as carefully as supplier time
Content is often the largest hidden small-business cost because the person who knows the work is busy delivering it. Make a page list, assign a source and approver, gather existing facts, and schedule review sessions before design begins. Writing from brochures still requires editing for screens, headings, scanning, local context, and a clear next step. Decide whether the supplier researches and writes, edits supplied material, or only places approved copy.
Use real examples, photographs, qualifications, process explanations, and customer questions to build trust. Secure permission for testimonials and recognizable people, and avoid unsupported superlatives. Decide who checks service areas, hours, prices, guarantees, and legal or policy language. For bilingual pages, identify a capable reviewer and a method for keeping English and French information aligned. Content that cannot be maintained should not be promised at launch.
